Leadership Training & Sports Outreach Programs (background) - ARENA and FMLN are the two primary political parties in El Salvador, and also represent the government and guerilla forces that fought a brutal, decade-long civil war that ended in 1994. In many ways, the country still remains divided today by political and socio-economic status. In addition, a new civil war has begun in the streets between rival gangs that are led by "children of war." With many men either dying in the civil war or fleeing the country during that time today's Salvadoran youth often grow up without a father figure. The result has been many young boys turning to gangs for a source of camaraderie to fill that void.

Plan of Action
Leadership Training: Our leadership training focuses on connecting schools, churches, ministries, and people from opposite sides of the civil war by taking them on a journey of excellence that unites them as brothers and sisters in Christ. TLA's heart-focused curriculum strives to train disciples who make disciples in an effort to impact the globe one heart at a time. This training is divided into 3 Levels, and focuses on training the leaders of organizations that are in positions of influence to promote an integration and application of TLA's material within their church, school, or ministry.

Sports Outreach: TLA's sports outreach programs seek to bring athletes and spectators from different socioeconomic statuses, political parties, faiths, and educational backgrounds together on a common playing field. Sports are then used as a platform to share the Gospel, develop leadership qualities, and prepare the participants to win championships in the game of life.

Result: TLA has developed a network of over 25 churches, schools, and sports ministries that send their leaders to TLA's leadership retreats and sports outreaches to be trained on how to integrate TLA's heart-focused leadership curriculum and sports ministry curriculums into their organizations. Each organization has since used the material to being similar programs, and the reach has been in the thousands.

Vision - The process has began for a year-round leadership training center to be created that would reach all of Central America. The focus would be on equipping, resourcing, and training leaders to train leaders that are in positions of influence within their respective organizations. The training center would then serve as a hub for sports ministry leaders to come to for training, and to send teams to each Central American country to duplicate what has been done in El Salvador.
